Arthroscopy is a procedure that helps for diagnosing and treating the joint problems. Here the surgeon inserts a narrow tube through a small insertion of the size of a button hole that is connected to a fiber-optic video camera. This instruments has a small lens and lighting system that helps to give a clear picture of the joint. Here the light is transmitted through the fiber optics through the end of the arthroscope. The surgeon will be able to view the interior of the joint with the help of the miniature television that is attached to the arthroscope. It is used as a diagnostic or corrective procedure for relieving the pain or just mending the ligaments.
